Seventy five drivers converged on Robbinsville, NC  for a great weekend of hillclimb racing. The Chasing the Dragon Hillclimb has grown each year it has been held. The drivers came from Wisconsin, Florida, New Jersey and several are transplants to America from their home towns in Italy, Germany, Australia, Sweden and Finland. A group of over 3000 spectators saw drift cars, McLaren MB1 Can Am car, a Lancia Delta Integrale Rally car, a Jaguar XKE, a Fiat 500, a Caterham and many other unique sports cars and race cars.

More than 13 class records were broken. Drivers enjoyed tight competition, great barbecue and hickory chicken salad sandwiches on site and had the opportunity to sign many autographs for children and spectators. The social Saturday night was well attended and worker staff and drivers and crews enjoyed good food with live music from a group called Fast Gear!

HANS,  Grassroots Motorsports and Appalachian Race Tire were wonderful sponsors for our event.. HUGE thanks goes to TOYO Tires for making this possible as our presenting sponsor. Their support and helped make this event a success.

The weather stayed sunny and clear all the way up to the trophy presentations where drivers received cash and trophies in classes. The trophies were awarded by the lovely Amanda, Miss Black Knight from Robbinsville High School, Amy the Dragon and Ted Theodore, Event Manager. King of the Hill went to Heikki Rinta Koski and Queen of the hill was awarded to Vicki Lanning Eckerich. There were no major incidents on course and the safety workers and staff did a great job of keeping the course clear and the spectators and drivers safe.

Chasing the Dragon V is just a few weeks away. Registration opens this week and we anticipate the 100 car cap to fill up quickly! Dragon 5.0  – August 3-4
